In Africa, precisely Nigeria it's abomination for man to kneel before woman for whatever reason it could be, it is against her custom and tradition but most of the country men have adopted a culture of kneeling down before proposal.

Joy does not hesitate to show the world their true custom by humbling herself, she knelt down to accept and received the ring from her man

When proposing, it is expected of the man to go down on one knee. This practice is based on Western culture, which some people have adopted. But remember this is Africa.
